This piece was inspired by a gorgeous cactus in bloom in my neighborhood. My husband took a photo and sent it to me while on a walk with our dogs, in disbelief at how vibrant the flowers were. The next day and next dog walk, those blooms had completely wilted.
I started this painting within the first hour of receiving the photo; my daughter got to name it when it was finished. I wanted to capture the feeling of finding a truly extraordinary cactus in bloom, and knowing that it’ll be gone so quickly; it’s a truly magical feeling.”
